Colorado Resort Adventure Guide

Mancos

Located at 7,000 feet elevation, Mancos is just six miles from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park. Against the desert west of Mesa Verde, Mancos continues its long tradition as a ranching community. Here cowboys still herd cattle on horseback, and log cabins, ranch houses, weathered barns, and horse corrals dot peaceful hills and fields. The first white men to discover Mesa Verde rode there from their Mancos Valley ranch in search of stray cattle.

Points of Interest: Mesa Verde National Park, San Juan National Forest, Western Town, Stagecoach and Horseback Rides.

Annual Events: Mancos Days in July, Mancos Fall Festival in September, and Olde Fashioned Christmas in December.
